A curtain wall is an external cladding system which is constructed with materials such as glass, aluminum or steel, and has no structural role. The wall curtain prevents adverse weather from penetrating into the building but facilitates natural light into the room. Unlike the case in ordinary walls, curtain walls are not structurally supportive of the building since all of the structural loads are borne by the frame of the structure on which the curtain wall hangs. The aluminum curtain wall systems are robust yet elegant and do not require outstanding levels of maintenance. They are built to be eco-friendly and provide superior thermal insulation and due to their design versatility they can be designed in many ways. In construction of commercial buildings especially skyscrapers, high residential buildings, curtain walls are most preferred.
